Joanna is doctoral researcher at the University of Liverpool Management School. Her research explores how, in the absence of socially ascribed gender roles, same-sex couples participate within the labour market after having children. Specifically, it seeks to understand how same-sex couples ‘do gender’ or ‘redo gender’ through their anchoring and daily decision-making processes and the impact that has on the management of their work-family responsibilities. Additionally, the research aims to understand how same-sex couples are affected by ‘motherhood penalties’ and ‘fatherhood premiums.’ Joanna also works as an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Research Consultant and is a student EDI representative for NWSSDTP, and is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
